It seems that the UV-17pro can rx airband, but can’t tx. I’m an RF engineer, so I’m intuition is telling me this is disabled by software. The RF engineer within you should recognize that this is probably because it lacks the hardware to permit legal, within band, without harmful interference, AM transmission.
